Hi, I am 43 years old and was diagnosed about 5 years ago with rheumatoid arthritis and also hypothyroidism.

I also suffer from anxiety and depression, which I’ve had for many years.

I struggle daily with joint pain and stiffness. I was seeing a rheumatologist who tried me on methotrexate. That didn’t work for me. So then my rheumatologist prescribed Humira, which is a biologic. You take an injection once a week, either in your stomach, or your upper thigh.

My first dose, I ended up in the hospital, first time ever!

I was finally diagnosed with c-diff, which is an infection of the bowels. I was in the hospital for 7 days and quarantined! I’m very OCD, so to be quarantined was very traumatizing to me. This was in February 2016.

I now have another rheumatologist appointment with a new Dr coming up on February 5th, 2018. I’m hoping he can help me. I’m currently on no RA meds except prednisone for a flare-up.

Just started this medication, 4 a day for 2 days, then 3 for 2 days, etc. Prednisone helps me so much, but the side effects are horrible so therefore it’s not good to take continuously. But really, every single med has side effects and not good ones.

I’m learning more of that as I continue doing RA research. Fingers crossed for me for my appt on February 5th! Wish me luck! Thanks for letting me share.
